I love this Holiday! Cinco de Mayo is an annual celebration commemorating the Mexican army’s victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. Although it is a minor holiday in Mexico, Cinco de Mayo has become a popular cultural celebration in the United States and other countries with significant Mexican populations.
On Cinco de Mayo, people often celebrate with parades, parties, and traditional Mexican food and drinks, I know I may find myself searching for a Margarita tonight! Some of my favorite food is highlighted on this glorious day! Guacamole, tacos, enchiladas, and margaritas. Oh MY!!
While the holiday is often associated with drinking and partying, it is essential to remember the historical significance of Cinco de Mayo. The victory at the Battle of Puebla was an important moment in Mexico’s fight for independence and represented a significant moment of pride for the country.
Join me in celebrating Cinco de Mayo by learning about Mexican history and culture, supporting local Mexican-owned businesses, and enjoying traditional food and music. By doing so, you can honor the holiday’s history and significance while also celebrating the vibrancy and diversity of Mexican culture. Make some fun plans and message me how you decided to celebrate! XO Jenn
